Miss Global 2017

I finally applied to join Miss Global.

For the last two years, I have been receiving invitations from Miss Global Organization via my profile on https://www.modelmanagement.com/model/daniella-akellot/. I finally made up my mind last year, 2016 when I submitted my first application. It was too late by then but I still went on and submitted my application.

When I received their 3rd invitation to apply early in 2017, I didn't hesitate. In fact, I had been preparing for this application since December 2016 when I planned for a photo shoot with Giulio Molfese, an award winning fashion photographer in Uganda.
Armed with these photos and my portfolio, I applied with boldness.

I was excited the day Miss Global Organization confirmed receipt of  my application and posted my profile on their website http://www.missglobal.com/daniella-akellot. I posted the news on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DaniellaLoveUG/community and shared it with my followers.

A few months later and I have been selected as Miss Global Uganda to represent my country in the Miss Global 2017 beauty pageant taking place in Cambodia from 2nd-19th November 2017.

I am truly honored to be selected by Miss Global Organization, http://www.missglobal.com/, to represent Uganda in Miss Global 2017.

This journey continues......................................................................

Miss Social Media Uganda 2015

Being my second beauty pageant, Miss Social Media Uganda 2015 had a few surprises waiting for me. Not only was I selected the contestant with the Best Catwalk, I made it to the Top 5 Finalists stage in the contest. Indeed, hardwork does pay off.

Modeling meets Charity

I have always loved giving back to the community and it is for this reason that I jumped at an opportunity to participate in a photoshoot organized to raise funds for a widow and her disabled children in Uganda. The event was organized by Photo4Charity. Above are some of the photos taken at the Photo4Charity photoshoot.

African Designers Part 1 - Fashion Project

My fashion project is about showcasing different creations made by African Designers. The way this works is that I borrow pieces from a selected designer's collection and organize my own photoshoot with a fashion photographer. I then display these designs online through my social networking sites, websites and blogs like this one. By doing this, I am giving a platform for both the model (me ofcourse) and the designer to showcase what they can do internationally.

Below are two outfits designed by Brenda Maraka from Uganda, photographed by Giulio Molfese.

Miss Tourism TESO 2014

Growing up, my childhood dream was to be a part of a Beauty Pageant. So when the opportunity to join Miss Tourism TESO 2014 contest came up, I went for it. I was 26 at this time. Although the oldest of the contestants, I looked the youngest. I loved the looks people got on their faces whenever I introduced myself as having a Masters degree, running two start up businesses and conducting a fashion project showcasing African fashion online. I appeared to have wowed the judges however because of my petite height of 5ft 4inc, I didn't make it as a finalist in the  competition. Needless to say, I had an awesome time, I got to inspire young ladies out there and I fulfilled my dream.

Urban Portrait with Najma Hush

Art
I met photographer Najma Hush from Birmingham at a Positive Vibes Crew party which was hosted by our mutual friend, Donald Hayden, an upcoming reggae artist at his home in London.
Najma sat close to me and complimented me on having a beautiful face. I smiled and thanked her kindly.
I later went downstairs to have some fun and dance to some reggae bits. Little did I know thar Najma had been looking for me to take my picture. When she finally found me along the staircase, she grabbed her camera to take a shot. I posed normally but she asked me to do something crazy. Above is the result of my impromptu photoshoot with one of Birmingham's photographers in the heart of London.
